At Vacaville High School, the Girls tennis team has had an outstanding season, with a jaw dropping record of 13-3 and a second place overall in MEL, right behind Armijo High School. “It was fun and emotional because it is my last season, we ended up in second place, which I am pretty proud of,” said senior Jasmine Moldovan, one of the singles players.
Tennis is a sport played all over the world which involves a great deal of mobility, flexibility and the ability to maneuver yourself back and forth across the court quickly. The goal is to hit the tennis ball in a strategic and specific spot where the opponent is not able to hit the ball back. Luckily, our tennis girls are great at all the factors needed to be successful players.
“I am very proud of everyone for working hard this season and getting second place,” said Amanda Travers, a doubles player with Ashley Brauning. We should not forget the outstanding coaches, Mr. Lee and Mr. Gmahling. who worked hard and dedicated their time to the team, which made it possible for the girls to come so far!
Congratulations to Jessica McLaughlin, Bailee Aguigui, Ally Barling, and Kaylie Orozco for earning the title of MEL All League in Girls Tennis this year at the MEL Tournament. The four girls placed in the top 4 ranks for doubles, which earned them the title. Special shoutout to Ally and Kaylie, it is their first season playing tennis and they went undefeated at the rank 1 doubles position.“We’re very proud of all they have accomplished in such a short time,” stated Mr. Lee.
