During 2005, an interview was conducted between Donald Trump and Billy Bush of Access Hollywood. In the interview, Trump bragged in vulgar terms, pertaining to his ability to walk up to women, kiss them, grope them, and have sex with them. Recently, footage of this interview has surfaced. The media was outraged at the so called, ‘sexist’ statements he made. Trump’s main defense was that his statements were “Locker room talk”. Women felt attacked, and men were offended, at his apparent misogynist views.
I’d like to begin by pointing out that when this interview was aired, the media couldn’t care less. It’s only now that he’s running for president against Hillary Clinton, a woman, that everyone is now outraged and disgusted. Let’s address this from a female side. Is it sexist that he said he could approach a woman and just pick up on them? No. You can say it any way you like and pile on the facts to contradict me, but it’s not sexist. He NEVER said that women were sleazy. He never said a woman would let him do the things he said. He never said he could not be rejected. Trump may speak his mind and speak it very bluntly, but Trump doesn’t insult women. He’s been married many times, and has committed adultery, but has his wives ever said a word to cross him? Has he stopped taking care of them? Has he ever failed in his obligations as a husband?
I’d like to see someone address Hillary’s sexism. She’s taken hundreds of millions of dollars from countries that abuse women, through the Clinton Foundation. And she has the audacity to call herself a feminist. I know you might say that this isn’t a political topic, and she has nothing to do with this, but all this is politics. Bringing up an interview from 11 years ago, hoping to sway the opinions of Trump supporters is the point. I’m not saying it isn’t a valid point that what he said wasn’t wrong, but let’s all consider the fact that he APOLOGIZED. Donald Trump, the most opinionated man in America, apologized. Whether you feel he was genuine or not, he apologized. I won’t say let it go, because if you’re reading this, infuriated at me for defending a man you believe is a monster, or has done wrong, I won’t tell you your opinion or feelings are irrelevant.
Now let’s address this from a man’s side. You cannot tell me, as a man, with complete honesty that you have never looked at a woman and thought some nasty things. Unless you are completely uninterested in women, there’s no way. Now, people are looking at this like he’s saying men are dogs. We are humans. Men and women both have the drive to reproduce, and we are attracted to who we choose. Even guys who are respectful of women, and treat them to the best of their ability have the right to think of women in a dirty way. The children of America say things even worse than he does and no one cares. Who influences that? Rappers degrade women in songs all the time. Calling them [a female dog] and talking about [side girls] and how they just want them to, “take their clothes off”. And they’re idolized. Just because it’s to a catchy tune, does that mean the words are not offensive to some people? Does that mean if Trump had sang his statement instead of saying it, he would be judged less?
Women, in fact, are impacted more by rappers, in the sense that they’ve made it a trend to have a specific body type. If anything, women should be offended at that. If Drake or Future had said what Trump did, would anyone cry in outrage at them? I don’t think so. And this is what’s wrong with America. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. If Hillary said something like that about men, we’d probably all just laugh, and make jokes, and no one would take it seriously. No one would care. Why is the media, why are we all, so focused on attacking one person who said some inappropriate things years ago, rather than the men who blast their vulgar raps over the radio? Rather than the people we idolize the most that betray our values? Why do we ignore them, yet bash Trump? I’m not saying what he said was ok. It was inappropriate and wrong, but I think we need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Donald Trump is not a monster for saying what everyone else does. And if he is, doesn’t that tell you something is wrong?
I know we are to hold Trump to a higher standard, given he’s running for president, but if you think about it, the president runs the country, but the media runs the world.
