As any citizen of the United States can tell you by now, Donald Trump is a serious candidate in our current presidential election. To many, the very obvious differences between Trump and any career politician is exactly what they wanted to see. The tough stances that he has taken on issues such as immigration and refugees have gained him massive support, though not in the usual ways. Trump’s habit of making over-the-top statements, and calling for drastic action has garnered a massive amount of media coverage. In fact, many are attracted to the idea of him winning the presidency because of his out of the box ideas and lack of political experience.
Though Trump is probably more famous now than he has ever been, he is not unfamiliar with the spotlight. Being a very wealthy business owner, and long time host of “The Celebrity Apprentice”, Donald Trump has spent a lot of time in the public eye. In all of this exposure, Trump had many interviews and spent a lot of time with  reporters. One such reporter scored big with an audio recording taken 11 years ago, that aired only two days before his second presidential debate. Trump made bold statements about how he treated women, and even said, “[W]hen you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything”. If his claims of sexual assault were not enough, his nonchalant attitude is almost worse. He thought, and probably continues to think, that he can get away with a crime because of his fame and wealth.
Time and time again, Donald Trump has proven that he is unfit for the presidency. This was just another layer on the cake, and we could expect a lot more in the time until the president was elected. We can also probably expect the same afterwards. While Trump cracked his statements up to harmless “Locker Room Talk”, numerous women popped up who claimed that they were sexually harassed by him. He responded to one such accusation, saying that the woman “wasn’t my first choice”. First of all, that statement doesn’t even deny the accusation, it just makes him sound more desperate to cop a feel. Secondly, the insinuation that someone wasn’t attractive enough for a saggy old orange-peel  like Donald Trump is entirely false and also incredibly insulting.
Donald Trump has defended himself by accusing the women that have come forward against him of lying just to hurt him. While it is very possible that someone might want to take this opportunity to hurt Trump, and even lie to do so, those few are not representative of the real victims. It is ridiculously unjust and unfair to ignore and disregard potential victims because some of them might be lying.
Trump doesn’t stop at insulting his accusers, but has even used this to draw attention to Bill Clinton’s past affairs. He would have the media think that his sexual assault against women doesn’t matter, and has tried to deflect the negative attention towards Hillary Clinton’s husband, who had a scandal during his presidency, from which he was impeached. He tried to dodge the bad publicity and somehow make Hillary out as a bad candidate because her husband was unfaithful. What’s more, it seemed to work. Maybe not to harm the Clintons, but to distract the media until the story died down a little more. No doubt more people will speak out against Trump, but he’s made it out of the initial hotbed of accusations and damage to his campaign.
