Stranger Things is a Netflix-original drama series that was released on July 15, 2016. It stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, a single mother of two who lives in a small Indiana town. The show offers so much excitement and suspense. Every time an episode ends it makes you want to go on to the next. The suspense really does grow throughout each episode. The show features an 80s vibe, it fits really well. The creators were inspired by 80s movie stalwarts, like Steven Spielberg, John Hughes, and John Carpenter.
It’s always been hard for me to get hooked on a show, but this show definitely did it. After the first episode I couldn’t stop watching it. Stranger Things is one of those rare shows that many people may be skeptical to watch. I really enjoyed watching the mystery unfold on screen, but what really made me want to continue watching were the amazing characters and awesome setting. Stranger Things is sure to have you at the edge of your seat. I could go on and on about this series but I don’t want to spoil anything if you haven’t watched it, I’ll just list a few reasons why I think it’s so good.
1. The Mystery:
Stranger Things has so much mystery; It will leave you questioning so many things. Even towards the end when the credits begin to roll you will be left with no answers. They give the viewers enough information to keep them satisfied while still being able to keep the ball rolling.
2. The Episodes:
Stranger Things knew exactly what they wanted to do and got it done with only eight episodes. Most would probably feel that eight episodes is not enough to fit everything that’s needed, but Stranger Things fit everything in those eight episodes very well.
3. The Characters:
The three kids that were searching for their friend “Eleven” played great roles in the show. One of the biggest downfalls when it comes to child actors is that adults are writing the dialogue. Sometimes it’s hard for an adult to put themselves in the mind of a child and write dialogue that a kid would actually say. Throughout the show the kids dialogue feels natural and believable and it makes it so much easier to watch when nothing seems forced.
As mentioned before this is a Netflix series, if you’re interest on watching it you can find it there. On August 31, there was an announcement on YouTube that a season two would be released sometime in 2017. There is no trailer for season two yet, just an announcement video with no characters or sneak peeks. Although, in the announcement video there is a slideshow revealing the names of nine episodes from the upcoming season.
