Since the beginning of Counter Strike and Call of Duty, the two have had a feud that has raged on. Do you think that it should continue? Quoting, CraveOnline “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's recent updates and big tournaments have turned it into the fourth most watched game in the world. It is now the most popular First Person Shooter (FPS), surpassing Call of Duty with more than 400,000 concurrent players at any given time, and a view volume of well over a hundred million per month.” Views and upcoming events say that Counter Strike is more popular. Counter Strike is known as the fourth most watched game in the world, but was it always this way?

Counter Strike: Global Offensive was released August 21, 2012. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 came out around a year later, November 13, 2013. Now, several years after, Black Ops 2 is still being played, however, the online player amount has decreased greatly. Counter Strike however is still played extensively around the world. The reason for Black Ops 2 decrease, was because of the Xbox One console and the release of Call of Duty Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, and Black Ops 3. Both being played; mainly Black Ops 3. However, Counter Strike is still passing them in ratings.

Many people say Call of Duty is dying because the community wants a more realistic game and their next game release is going to be a game set in space. Counter Strike creators however have not said anything about a new game, and are focusing on Counter Strike: Global Offensive. Counter Strike will continue to grow and Call of Duty ratings are only falling. I don’t think that this feud will go on much longer, and that Counter Strike will simply overpower the FPS gaming community.
