For having just been released, “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish, questioning what’s going to happen next. This thriller is the strangest, “law and order,” episode you have ever seen. The majority of the movie is a courtroom; the court is prosecuting a priest played exquisitely by Tom Wilkinson for killing Emily rose through a religious power of “demons.” He pleads his defense that he did not kill her by using any religious power, or depriving her from any pills, but he was only trying to rid her of the demons. Playing the priest in charge of the exorcisms, and also on trial for the so called “killing,” is Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter.) Laura Linney (as his ambitious lawyer), and Scott Cambell (as the prosecutor) make great enemies in this trial, with their great vocabulary and intelligence. So this movie, greatly directed/co-written by Scott Derrickson is great, and I highly encourage you all to check it out for yourself.
Although the name may sound the similar, do not be fooled to think that this film is connected with the movie “The Exorcist.” I highly recommend seeing this movie. If you are interested in any type of scary, or “startling” movies you should definitely see this one. Like I said it will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish and has a great ending, not cheesy or tacky, as other scary movies have. You won’t be disappointed.
